The third Bookshelf Short Story Competition began on the 12/10/2011. There is no specific theme, but keep your word count to somewhere between 500 and 2500 words. Closing date is 12/4/2012. The best three stories will be announced on or before 12/5/2012. There is no entry fee and the best story will be awarded $100 (Au), runner up $25 and third place $10. Email your entry as an attachment, either .doc or .docx please. Send it to bookshelf@garsong.com with Short Story Comp. in the title to avoid going the way of spam. The top ten entries will be published on this site, (unless you notify me you don't want it published). No previously published stories please, and send only one entry per person.
The second Bookshelf Poetry Competition began on 12/8/2011. Closing date for entries is 12/2/2012. Again, there is no theme nor compulsory style or length, although so far as length is concerned, it will need to be pretty special to be more than a couple of pages. The best three poems will be announced on 12/3/2011. There is no entry fee and the best poem will be awarded $100 (Au), runner up $25 and third place $10. Email your entry as an attachment, either .doc or .docx please. Send it to bookshelf@garsong.com with Poetry Comp. in the title to avoid being treated as spam. The winning entries will be published on this site, (unless you notify me that you don't want it published). No previously published poems please, and send only one entry per person.
Entries sent before or after the dates mentioned will not be considered. The judges decisions are final. Gar reserves the first right to publish the winning entries. Copyright remains with the authors. Payments to winners will be via Paypal. For further information and general enquiries contact Gar at gar@garsong.com or bookshelf@garsong.com.

I would of course like to thank all the entrants for their submissions and remind all that a new poetry competition will be beginning on the 12/8/2011. And... Do send in an entry, although the prizes are modest, all I can afford at present, there is no entry fee.
Regards, Gar
