Local Birds (with feathers)
Below are thumbnails of various birds which visit my home. Click on the thumbnails for larger, more detailed
images.
A King parrot in my garden. This male was less scared
than most and walked up quite close to me and my camera
This cheeky fellow is a Rainbow Lorrikeet and despite
being about half the size of the King Parrot is most
definitely the boss. They see off magpies, many times
their own size.
The second photo is the same fellow getting really stuck in
to a half mandarin which I left for him. He'd take it off the
tree if I didn't.
Although this galah doesn't appear to be too impressed by
my presence, he soon hopped down off his perch and
began to feed.
In fact here it is a few minutes later, feasting on bindii
seeds.
The Eastern rosellas are very prettily coloured
Top knot doves are very common and hang around all day
waiting for me to give them some birdseed.
The magpie might lord it over the topknots, but watch
him scoot when the parrots arrive.
Plenty of Kookaburras are often about the
place
A great photo of two young owls. Had to look for a long
time to be sure they weren't just broken off branches.
These ones were well spotted by Trace.
Does this cheeky Rainbow Lorrikeet look fat? It should, it
had just finished eating all my mandarins!
