Gar's new cdr;
There are 12 original tracks on this cdr, all written and recorded by Gar, mostly at Taylors Arm. Due to a southward move, it's
doubtful whether any recording will take place in the near future, so if you want to hear what I was doing during the start of 2008, I can
send this cdr, complete with 8 page booklet of lyrics and info. There are some great songs on this one.
Cost will be $15.00 Aus., and, that's inclusive of whatever the postage will be to you. Clips of a lot of these tracks are available on
this site, and will give you a bit of an idea what the sounds are like.
For orders, email me at gar@garsong.com with 'gar's cdr' in the title to help me sort you from the masses of garbage mail I recieve
regularly.

Dreaming of the Muse
Where are we going how did we meet
how were you knowing I’d walk down that street at all
Imagination turns the picture of your face
into wild adventures of other times and other places
You know when the lightning strikes
It never means no ha-a-rm
Babey give me one more night
laying in your arms
Oh If I could tra-a-ace the picture of your heart
photograph you sent to me now the-e-e-ere’s a start
what happens when two dreams like this collide
talk to me I wanna’ hear the story from your side
I know when a dream arrives it’s never quite the same
It’s enough to recognize the beauty of the flame
You know when the lightning strikes
It never means no ha-a-rm
Babey give me one more night
laying in your arms
Oh If I could tra-a-ace the picture of your heart
photograph you sent to me now the-e-e-ere’s a start
2/. Shoulda’ Known (4.00) - Gar, ?/9/1979
Shoulda Known was written a long time ago and I decided to re-record it recently, so have added it because the recording of it was also
flavoured by the same factors as my recently written songs
3/. Echoes of Ancient Songs (5.39) - Gar, 28/6/1991
I wrote this song about the music and people I met when first living in Ireland. It reflects both the extraordinary talent and magic of the people and
the land itself along with dreamlike glimpses into the distant past which come down through the old music.
.4/. Later in the Day (4.52) - Gar, 9/1/2008
Nearly all relationships go through testing times. This song reflects confusion resulting from such. It’s not the problems or lack of them which
build a relationship, but the way they resolve to sometimes even strengthen the bonds.
Booklet Text Etc.
Seamus was a friend of mine
asked me so many times
how I could stand living hand to mouth
in those cold wild times when
no two days ever seemed to rhyme
there were days when my way seemed south
Time passes year by year
yet I’m still here
thankful for everything I’ve seen
I met some lads last night
told me you was still alright
they said you’re doin’ grand down in Skibereen
I know it’s time to go
I’ll wait for the snow
ain’t nothing I can’t leave behind
Festivals old music bars
cloudy skies can’t see the stars
Tomorrows always bleed me blind
1/. Trace a Picture (4.51) - Gar, 31/10/2007

5/. Best of Luck (3.57) - Gar, 21/11/2004
A song for Seamus, who used to own the Glasslyn Inn in Bandon, Co. Cork. He helped me out many a time when I used to
busk in the streets there, and I certainly wish both himself and his wife Joan all the best.
6/. Peacock Song (4.09) - Gar, 24/11/2007
There’s a peacock on the roof, doin’ an elephant dance
Thunder dancing all around, won’t you give me another chance
Come on back, you know I need you near
I just gotta’ find out what happens when we’re near
To each other, can we be lovers
Hold my hand walk along the sand
with me by the edge of the sea
My lover’s in the storm
I saw the fire in her eyes
Her feet were in the sand
She touched on my surprise
You know she seemed to understand
Lightning in her eyes
There was lightning flashing in her eyes
Imagine my surprise
There’s a peacock on the roof, doin’ an elephant dance
Thunder dancing all around, won’t you give me another chance
Come on back, you know I need you near
I just gotta’ find out what happens when we’re near
To each other, can we be lovers
If there were a way
I’d love to walk with you a while
just takin’ every day
I’d cherish every single smile
If there were a way to make those dreams come true
there is a way only you
We can walk awhile
side by side in separate dreams
it’s the freedom of your smile
that gives me songs to sing
Memories may find me sad in times to come
but they’re memories I’d never trade not one
If there were a way
I’d love to walk with you a while
just takin’ every day
I’d cherish every single smile
If there were a way to make those dreams come true
there is a way only you
7/. Song for a Muse (Janey’s Song) (2.29) by Gar, 1/9/2007
I was using my PA at home to practice some of the new songs I’d recently written when a peacock landed on the roof and
began to dance about, sounding like an elephant on the thin tin roof. So the song began. A few minutes later a massive ring of
thunderstorms encroached, but in the grip of inspiration, I braved the lightnings and finished the song. I do love
reggae/offbeat stuff.
Song for a Muse was inspired by Janey, a talented artist, who may eventually be doing some drawings for one of my children’s
books, a young girl named Bonnie, who showed exceptional talent and knowledge and thirdly Trace, who continues to inspire
me and always will it seems.
8/. Second Song (4.00) by Gar, 18/11/2007
I wasn’t lonely ‘till I met you
I sent my heart away
Now I’m waitin’ for a lover
waitin’ for the day
Ahh lovely muse you do confu-u-use me
I’ve been alone so long
Ahh little girl you so enthu-u-use me
I can only seem to tell ya’ in a song
The crowd parted I drew a breath
there you were oh God that dress
I walked to you and took your bag
I can’t believe
you came all this way
just to see me
I couldn’t say what I wanted to
yet I said far too much
we didn’t really need to speak at all
I was longing for your touch
Ahh lovely muse you do confuse me
I’ve been alone so long
Ahh little girl you so enthuse me
I can only seem to tell you in a song
Beaches under rainy skies
I’ve such a need to see your eyes
we touched as we said goodbyes
You’ve gone away
I’m not that I’m sad
Just miss you
I wasn’t lonely ‘till I met you
and sent my heart away
Now I’m waitin’ for a lover
Now I’m waitin’ for the day
Ahh lovely muse you do confuse me
I’ve been alone so long
Ahh little girl you so enthuse me
I can only seem to tell you in a song
I can only seem to tell you in a song------
9/. Dragonsong (4.01) - Gar, 2006-2007
This song was written over several years and started a long time ago with the notion that there are Dragons dancing in the sun.
10/. How Could such a Dream be Real (3.35) - Gar 14/12/2007
What can you do when your dreams are far away
and you’re in love
What can you say when your lover’s on the phone
can’t talk you wish your lips were sealed
with the sweetest kisses ever to come your way
I should be sayin what my heart tell’s me
my heart’s so far away you see
and I just want you ne-ar to me
yeh........
What can you say if your dreams all tell you slow
and you know full well your dreams are true
I just want to hold you my your arms
an’ I know you have the softest touch
an’ I need you oh so much
how can such a dre – eam
how can such a dre – eam come true
how could such a dream be real
how could such a dream be real
how could such a dream be real
Feelings that come with being in love seem to vary from heights of ecstasy through excruciating bewilderment all the way to
absolute misery!
11/. Heard the Talk (4.39) - Gar, 19/7/2004
A song about a time when relationships had broken down, new ones started up and the resultant confusion created a few
hassles. Or so it seemed to me at the time.
Most of these tracks are currently being re-masterred and improved, the cdr in it's not quite done
form is still available.
